Adding Custom App Blocks

Overview

EcomWize lets you add third-party Shopify app blocks - like upsell apps, review widgets, or bundle builders - directly into your product sections. You place a placeholder snippet in EcomWize, publish the page, and then add the actual app block in the Shopify theme editor. The app will appear at the exact spot where you placed the snippet.

Step-by-step guide

1. Add the Shopify App Block snippet
   In the EcomWize page builder, select your product section. Open the snippets dropdown (where you find Add to Cart, App Star Rating, etc.) and click Shopify App Block. This inserts a placeholder that tells Shopify where to render your app.

   

2. Verify the placeholder on the canvas
   The Shopify App Block placeholder appears inside your product section on the canvas. It displays the message: "Renders installed Shopify app blocks here" and a note reminding you to add app blocks in the Shopify theme editor after publishing.

   

3. Publish your page
   Click the Update (or Publish) button in the top-right corner of the builder to push your page to Shopify.

4. Open the Shopify theme editor
   In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click the Edit theme button on your active theme.

   

5. Add your app block to the product section
   In the Shopify theme editor, navigate to the page you published. In the left sidebar, find and click on the Product section, then click + Add block. Switch to the Apps tab to see your installed Shopify apps. Select the app you want to add - it will be inserted at the exact position of the Shopify App Block snippet you placed in EcomWize.

   

6. Done - your app block is live
   The app block now renders inside your product section at the exact spot you chose in EcomWize. You can configure the app's settings from the right sidebar in the Shopify theme editor.

   

Important notes

The Shopify App Block snippet only works inside product sections. Make sure you add it to a product section, not a regular content section.

You can add multiple Shopify App Block snippets in the same product section to place different apps at different positions on the page.

The app must be installed and configured in your Shopify store before it will appear in the theme editor's app block list. If you don't see your app, make sure it is properly installed from the Shopify App Store.
